Cases are referred to PILARS by the Bankruptcy Desk at the Royal Courts of Justice Advice Bureau (‘RCJ Advice’). If you would like to be considered for representation under the PILARS scheme, or are looking for advice on bankruptcy law, you should attend one of the RCJ Advice morning sessions:
Day and time: Monday to Friday, 10am to 1pm Location: Room TM13 (near Court 52) First Floor Thomas More Building Royal Courts of Justice
Clients are seen by RCJ Advice advisors on a ‘first come first served basis’. An advisor at RCJ Advice will assess whether your case is suitable for the scheme and, if appropriate, will contact PILARS. RCJ Advice will be able to give you advice even if your case is not suitable for PILARS.
Click here for further information regarding RCJ Advice.
If you are referred to PILARS, a barrister may be appointed to advise you and, possibly, to act as your representative at court. RCJ Advise will continue to assist you by acting as an intermediary between you and the PILARS barrister. There is no charge for the services provided by RCJ Advice or by any PILARS barrister. You will be free to cease to use the scheme at any time, should you wish to do so.
